Each member of the staff plays an important role in ensuring the service we provide goes above and beyond. The Pretorius Insurance Agency has been passed down for three generation in the Pretorius family, since it was started by Walter F Pretorius, Sr. in 1936. After serving in the army, Calvin C. Pretorius, Sr. joined his father in the family business in 1957. Then his daughter Miriam Pretorius became the owner in 1997. She sold the business in 2018 to Amy Dervin. She graduated magna cum laude from Kent State University with a bachelors of science degree in Insurance Studies. Albert Dervin has been in the insurance business for over 50 years and taught Amy everything he knows. It's a family business at its core.
We now have two locations one in Stark County and one in Tuscarawas County. We are known as the Dervin Insurance Group, Inc in North Canton and Pretorius Insurance Agency in Dover. This has given us a stronger foothold in the insurance industry and opens up new opportunities for our insureds. We are helping to service the clients of Cox & Dervin Insurance and have moved the operations in with Dervin Insurance Group, Inc to continue to provide you the best service.
